You're Not Here by Accident
This One Isn’t for Everyone
The street team reads finished books. Alpha readers see something earlier and messier than that—the manuscript before it knows what it is yet. That requires a different kind of reader.
If you’re on this page, you probably already know me. You’ve had real conversations. You’ve asked questions that pushed the work somewhere better. You’re the kind of reader who can tell the difference between a structural problem and a sentence that just needs to breathe.
That’s who this is for.
What alpha readers do
Alpha readers receive draft chapters or full manuscripts at an early stage—sometimes very early. The ask is to read with attention and respond honestly. What’s landing. What isn’t. Where the logic breaks down or the pacing drags. Where you wanted more and got less.
This isn’t proofreading. It’s not a sensitivity read. It’s a conversation between a writer and a reader who takes the work seriously enough to tell the truth about it.
What you get
Early access to manuscripts that aren’t public yet. A genuine seat at the table during the part of the process that actually shapes the book. And my attention—which, if you’ve interacted with me at any length, you know comes with real engagement, not a form response.
What this requires
Responsiveness. Alpha reading works on a timeline, and a reader who disappears is worse than no reader at all. If you’re in a season of life where you can’t commit to turnaround windows, this isn’t the right time—and that’s fine. The door doesn’t close permanently.
Honesty. The useful response to a draft chapter is rarely “I loved it.” If that’s where you get stuck, the street team is a better fit.
A relationship. This group doesn’t accept applications from strangers. If you’re here because someone sent you a link and you’ve never interacted with my work directly, this isn’t your entry point.
